Business

Butterpot Star Party details, call for member participation.

Vote (Gary Case/ Fred Smith) - Randy to serve as National Council Representative for GA 2007 (Calgary).

National Council item - new software for National Council Office (~ $60,000).

Annual reports available online at the http://www.rasc.ca website.

There are no GA voting items.

Why is there an interest in meteors - solar-system-aged rocks!

Finding a perfect sky - got to go South, way South!

Observing:

• wait until midnight
• do counts!
• take notes, noting brightness ( especially below any magnitude -4)

Fireball Networks: European, PrairieNet, Canadian Photnet (1971-95).

Three new networks in development:

• North America 1990
• Spain 2004
• Australia 2006

MORP - Meteorite Observation and Reporting Program

• Camera Stations
• 12 tracking sites in Prairies
• Typical setup - camera, dome, computer, software

Conclusions - Importance of interplanetary matter discovered through fireball nets.
