  • Presentation: "Twists and Turns While Searching for Strange Stars"
    (a live talk by Anna O'Grady)

    Anna O'Grady will give us a wrap-up on her research regarding Thorne-Zytkow Objects (Red Giants with a neutron star at their cores), and super-Asymptotic Giant Branch stars (stars at the boundary between high mass stars that end as supernovae and lower mass stars that end as white dwarfs) and describe findings reported in her latest paper. She will also give us a brief preview of her new project looking for yellow supergiant binary stars in the Magellanic Clouds.

    Anna is a past member of our St. John's Centre, a BSc Hons graduate of Memorial University, and is currently a final-year PhD student at the Dunlop Institute for Astronomy & Astrophysics, University of Toronto.
